Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Wound Care Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will establish satisfactory interpersonal relationships with patients, families, colleagues, and co-workers, while delivering exceptional care and education to individuals with wound and ostomy needs. This role requires strong communication skills, ethical decision-making, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care and Communication
- Initiate communication with patients and families to assess individual needs.
- Provide detailed patient education during inpatient stays and at discharge, following prescribed teaching plans.
- Respond effectively to verbal and non-verbal communications from patients, families, colleagues, supervisors, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with co-workers and colleagues across disciplines to exchange ideas and share information about patient care activities.
Ethics
- Make ethical decisions and actions on behalf of patients.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to the values of self and others.
- Involve patients and families in the plan of care while respecting their cultural, spiritual, and other belief systems.
Skills & Qualifications
Language Skills
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
Interpersonal Skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships across teams.
Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, bending, and occasional repetitive motions.

Education & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Active NYS RN License.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BCLS).
- Wound Care Certification
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in nursing.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in wound and ostomy care or related specialty.
