Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (ER)

Job Overview

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) delivers high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families in a fast-paced environment. You’ll apply nursing theory, technical expertise, and excellent communication skills to assess patient needs, identify care priorities, and provide direct care in collaboration with our multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct thorough triage assessments, prioritizing care according to ESI standards
2. Perform primary and secondary assessments, identifying critical needs and interventions
3. Deliver relationship-based care to alleviate anxiety, manage pain, and ensure patient safety
4. Assess physiological, psychosocial, emotional, and cultural needs of patients of all age groups
5. Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments
6. Provide comprehensive discharge education and post-emergency care instructions
7. Foster a healing environment and maintain clear communication with patients and families
8. Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Qualifications

1. Current RN license
2. BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI)
3. Two years of acute hospital experience as an RN
4. One year of ED hospital experience as an RN
5. Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment

Schedule

1. 20 Weeks contract
2. Full-time position
3. D/N/W/Holiday rotation
4. 12-hour shifts (7a-7p / 7p-7a)
5. 3 Days per week
6. 2 on-call shifts per 4-week period
