Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care using the nursing process. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for assigned patients while coordinating with interdisciplinary teams. This role includes supervising support staff and ensuring care delivery aligns with established nursing and hospital standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess immediate and ongoing patient care needs, including physical, psychosocial, and spiritual considerations
- Develop and implement comprehensive care plans, including patient education and discharge planning
- Deliver direct patient care in accordance with physician orders and established protocols
- Supervise and delegate care to LPNs, RNPs, nursing assistants, and other support staff
- Monitor, evaluate, and document patient responses to treatment; communicate changes promptly
- Reassess patients as conditions change and adjust care plans accordingly
- Coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity and effectiveness
- Establish care priorities and ensure timely execution of interventions
- Integrate age-specific care (e.g., pediatric, adult, geriatric) as applicable
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adherence to clinical standards
- Support staff orientation, mentoring, and clinical education
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities as assigned
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and staff
- Serve as a clinical resource for students and team members
- Participate in meetings, committees, research initiatives, and continuing education
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Experience with tracheostomy and ventilator care (required)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage high-stress clinical environments effectively
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing (BSN/MSN)
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout shifts
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds routinely and up to 100 pounds with assistance (patient handling)
- Exposure to clinical risks including bloodborne pathogens, sharps, and environmental hazards
Work Environment
- Fast-paced clinical setting
- Exposure to varying indoor/outdoor conditions and healthcare-related hazards
